Quincy Area Family Magazine

Brandy is the owner and publisher of Quincy Area Family Magazine, a local magazine catered to area families that provides beautiful design, stories, and events about the local area (and written by residents, too!).

When Brandy came to me, she had recently purchased the business and was looking to make it hers – but also need help with an overall direction for the magazine. Creative, audience, marketing, and how she wants to grow moving forward. She needed help to get it off the ground and basically start over.

With the Identity Innovator package, I worked with Brandy to plan a solid direction forward and to create a bright, fun, and colorful brand.

Together, we:

  • Set goals and discussed what the future could be for Quincy Area Family Magazine as Brandy relaunches the business during our strategy sessions.

  • Chose the overall vibe (or personality) of the magazine through adjectives that guide the brand voice and values.

  • Discussed the target audience and divided it into two groups: readers and advertisers.

  • Took her struggles and morphed them into creative solutions she can use for events, marketing, and her website.

  • Overcame the challenge of using six (6!!!) primary colors for the brand – one to represent each section and to use them interchangeably in the logo while still making sense for the brand. We discussed the potential negatives and positives of this and set strict guidelines to follow as Brandy moves forward and implements the brand and strategy.
